An abandoned cat has found a new home thanks to the kindness of neighbors who refused to leave her to fend for herself. After taking her in, the cat soon gave birth to a litter of adorable kittens.
A few weeks ago, the cat was left behind when her family moved away. Concerned neighbors noticed her wandering and searching for food, so they began feeding her.
To help locate her owners, they posted her on Lost and Found pages, but unfortunately, no one came forward.
After caring for her for a couple of weeks, the neighbors took her to the vet. Although they could not find a microchip, they learned she was pregnant.
“They were about to move themselves and didn’t want to leave her behind, so they reached out for help,” said Nikki from Best Friends Felines.
Nikki and her team took the cat into their care and named her Clara. They placed her in a foster home, providing a cozy environment filled with soft bedding and plenty of food to satisfy her growing appetite.
Clara quickly warmed up to her caregivers, showing her appreciation with affectionate nuzzles. “She is super smoochy and just loves people,” Nikki added.
To ensure Clara gained strength for her upcoming delivery, the foster volunteers replenished her food bowls throughout the day and showered her with affection. After weeks of living outside, Clara was grateful for her new indoor life.
She settled into her blankets, showcasing her round belly while purring contentedly. “She chats away to you and gives you the best head bops,” her foster family noted.
Although they estimated that Clara had another week or two before giving birth, she surprised everyone.
Shortly after settling in, her caregiver entered the room to find that Clara had gone into labor, welcoming six beautiful kittens into the world. “She was so cool, calm, and collected,” said her foster family.
Clara gave birth to five girls and one boy, a ginger among the litter. Almost immediately, she embraced her role as a mother, with all six kittens eagerly nursing.
Clara is a talkative mother, chirping enthusiastically whenever her caregivers enter the room. She allows them to weigh her kittens, always attentive and expecting them to be returned promptly.
“I cuddle with them every day, but when Clara has had enough, she gently takes them away back to her nesting area,” said one of the volunteers.
Within just one week, the kittens began to develop round bellies and some are starting to open their eyes.
The little ones enjoy cuddling together while Clara takes breaks to eat or use the litter box. As soon as they make a sound, she rushes back to them, showering them with unconditional love.
Clara proudly watches over her kittens—May, Avanna, Giuliana, Gail, Iggy, and Emme—as they enter the roly-poly phase of their development.
With no worries about food or shelter, Clara can devote her days to nurturing and snuggling her kittens, often basking in sunbeams.
Thanks to the compassionate neighbors and rescuers, Clara will not face another pregnancy after raising this litter. She is set to enjoy a future filled with love and care.
