Bottine, whose name means “boot” in French, arrived with her siblings at Chatons Orphelins Montreal, a cat rescue organization.
Like some of her littermates, Bottine was born with uniquely shaped legs: both front paws and one hind paw curve inward. X-rays revealed underdeveloped radius bones in her front legs and a bend in one of her hind legs.
But Bottine’s spirit proved resilient. From the start, she refused to let her physical differences hold her back, determined to experience life as any other kitten would.
With the support of a caring foster home, she quickly grew confident and eagerly sought human interaction.
Her unique way of moving—using her front legs to pull herself forward—charmed every volunteer she met. Bottine was in no pain and moved gracefully in her special way.
Her favorite activities included cuddling up with her foster mom, often resting on her mom’s neck or snuggling in her sweatshirt hood. “She adores spending time with us and loves to play,” her foster family shared.
Bottine is affectionate with everyone she meets, including people, cats, dogs, and even bunnies. Known for her playful energy, she often joins her feline friends in games while keeping close to her human companions.
“Whenever she spots us, she comes running for cuddles,” her foster family explained. Bottine is also very vocal, never hesitating to tell them when she needs attention or affection.
Despite her differently shaped legs, Bottine explores her surroundings with ease. She uses her elbows for support, has mastered climbing onto couches and beds, and even manages stairs. “She’s very resourceful, and nothing seems to stop her,” said her foster mom.
She tackles toys with the same gusto as any kitten, showing a zest for life that leaves everyone around her in awe.
Bottine also uses her litter tray and low-entry pee pads without any issues, fully adapted to her environment.
Bottine’s endearing personality extends to other animals as well. She often joins older cats by the window, keeping them company in the warm sunlight.
Her gentle presence seems to comfort them, helping them feel at ease. Each evening, she eagerly climbs into bed for snuggles, purring contentedly as she settles in close.
Since her arrival, Bottine has made incredible progress, strengthening her legs thanks to proper nutrition, care, and playtime.
Her cheerful, lively nature captivates everyone as she lives joyfully, always embracing her unique way of moving through the world.
