Apple, a resilient kitten, faced a tough start when she arrived at a city shelter without her mother or siblings. At just a few weeks old, she was frightened and struggling to thrive in the shelter’s stressful environment.
When the Best Friends Animal Society team in Los Angeles heard about Apple, they stepped in to help. “She wasn’t eating much in her kennel because shelter life can be quite overwhelming for animals,” said Frankie, her foster mom, in an interview with Love Meow.
Upon entering her foster home, Apple, with her wide eyes and frail body, was about to experience a significant change. “When I brought her home, I groomed her and noticed a lot of flea dirt. While I’m not sure about her past, it was clear she had been alone outside for some time, making her understandably nervous initially.”
Wrapped in a cozy blanket, Apple nestled into her foster mom’s arms, purring contentedly. Just a day after her arrival, she enjoyed her first proper meal, played with new toys, and rolled around on her comfy bed. Freed from the noise of the shelter and uncertainty, Apple quickly began to thrive.
“Within 24 hours, she realized she was in a safe space. She started eating on her own, had plenty of energy, and adored all her new toys,” Frankie shared.
The fear of being alone and scavenging for food faded away as Apple drifted to sleep next to a plush toy. Now, she could rest easy, knowing she would be cared for.
After a good night’s sleep, Apple woke up with renewed energy. “Her personality is so lively now! She is thrilled to have more space and a safe environment. She loves to run around and play with her toys.”
The timid kitten from the shelter has transformed into a playful bundle of energy. She races around her playpen, chasing after her ball toy like a tiny, fluffy tornado. She is gaining strength and filling out nicely, thanks to nutritious meals and attentive care.
After a busy day of play, she often flops down and purrs herself to sleep. One morning, Apple playfully jumped onto her foster mom’s bed, bouncing on pillows and blankets, claiming her new domain.
Despite her small size and baby-blue eyes, Apple exudes confidence, easily taking over the entire bed with her “queen of the castle” demeanor and seemingly endless energy.
In her loving home, Apple is flourishing, enjoying her meals and displaying her approval to her foster mom with satisfied smacks of her lips. It’s hard to believe that she was alone outside, searching for food and shelter just days before.
This beautiful Torbie is thriving and embracing each day to the fullest. In a few weeks, she will be ready to find her forever home, where she will receive all the love and attention she deserves.
For now, Apple is busy perfecting her feline skills, mastering the art of zoomies with each adventurous leap.
