This is illustrated perfectly by the unique bond between Patrick Conley and a black bear named Simone.

Over the years, Simone, a momma bear, has regularly visited Patrick’s Asheville, North Carolina home. One day, she brought along a special surprise – her newborn cubs!
Asheville is known for its thriving black bear population, which has become accustomed to human presence. This growing bear population is partly due to the bears adapting to coexist with humans.

In a heartwarming video, Simone emerges from the woods to greet Patrick, something she often does. However, this time, she brought along her first litter of cubs.
Patrick was amazed to see the adorable cubs trailing behind Simone. “The cubs are the cutest things ever to have walked these woods, but then I’m somewhat biased,” he captioned the video.
Having already formed a close bond with Simone, Patrick felt he was meeting new family members. Simone’s comfort around Patrick is evident as she confidently strides onto his porch, her cubs hesitantly following her lead.

While the cubs initially hesitated, they eventually joined their mother on the porch to meet Patrick. Understandably, he was in awe of the trust Simone placed in him by introducing her vulnerable newborns.
Despite their reputation, Simone showed that bears can form trusting and friendly relationships with humans. The cubs, still adjusting to their new surroundings, quickly ran to the nearest tree to play and explore, with Simone keeping a watchful eye on them.
After some playful exploration, Simone signaled it was time to leave, and the trio disappeared into the forest. Patrick noted that Simone appeared well-fed and healthy.
