After tying the knot in 2021, Stephen and Jessica wanted to add a furry companion to their new family. Their search led them to a local shelter, where they instantly fell in love with a tiny orphaned Pitbull named Koby.
Little did they know that this adorable pup would soon become a major part of their lives—and surprise them with a unique Pitbull trait that no one had warned them about.

Koby’s story began when he and his seven siblings were abandoned at a shelter at just four weeks old. The litter wasn’t considered “pure Pitbulls,” so the breeders didn’t want to keep them. “Dumped at the front door. The typical put in a box, turn away, don’t look back,” Koby’s dad, Stephen, recalled. Fortunately, Ollie’s Angels, a foster-based rescue group, stepped in to help, offering to take the entire litter. While most of the puppies were gray and white, Koby stood out with his tan coat.
For Stephen and Jessica, it was love at first snuggle. The moment they held Koby, he melted into their arms, and within an hour, they knew he was the one. They brought him home, ready to begin their journey together.
Those first few nights weren’t easy for the tiny pup, who was still adjusting to his new home. To comfort him, they bought a special stuffed animal with a heartbeat, which immediately soothed him. Now, two years later, Koby remains just as affectionate, often snuggling up with his humans and keeping his favorite blankets close.
Koby is known for being incredibly expressive, especially through his soulful eyes. His parents can always tell how he’s feeling just by looking at him. When they leave the house, he gives them the saddest puppy eyes, and when Stephen returns home, Koby is already waiting by the window, ready to smother him with hugs and kisses.
“There’s one thing they don’t tell you when you get a Pitbull: they require extreme cuddles,” Stephen joked. Indeed, Koby has proven to be a cuddle enthusiast, showering his parents with endless love, licks, and kisses.
