While most bears hibernate in dens or caves to survive the cold, Leo has a different approach. He snuggles up in a straw-filled enclosure, creating his warm, comfy den.

A video of him during the winter months shows him lounging in his straw bed, appearing half-asleep but still curious and playful.

Leo’s playful side emerges as he plucks bits of straw from his mouth, occasionally stretching his massive legs or playfully chewing like a toy. His behavior can be adorable, almost making you forget he’s a powerful wild animal.

It’s as if he’s a giant teddy bear lounging in bed, seemingly enjoying the comfort of his unique enclosure.

Thanks to Susan and Jim’s care, Leo has everything he needs to stay warm and comfortable during the winter.

The Orphaned Wildlife Center’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release wildlife when possible. Still, the center provides a safe and loving environment for bears like Leo, who cannot return to the wild.
