Rescuers discovered Namtan, a dog subjected to brutal torture, with little hope of survival due to her severe injuries. She was starving and unable to eat correctly because her nose had been grievously injured.
Fortunately, a team of rescuers known for saving elephants, the Save Elephant Foundation in Thailand, stumbled upon her.

Despite primarily focusing on elephant rescue, the foundation couldn’t ignore Namtan’s dire situation.
They found her on the sidewalk, her snout hanging from her face, likely severed with a machete or knife. She was so malnourished that she resorted to eating her waste.

Securing life-saving surgery for Namtan proved challenging. Many veterinarians warned that the procedure would be complicated due to the elapsed time since her injury. However, the rescuers persisted until they found a willing veterinarian.
Through the surgeon’s determined efforts, Namtan miraculously survived the operation. Her recovery has been remarkable, with her injury healing well after the procedure.
Currently, she receives loving care at The Elephant Park Sanctuary, where her rescuers continue to watch over her.
