In a heartwarming scene, two baby elephants were caught playfully slapping each other with their trunks in a friendly tussle.
The lighthearted moment occurred under the trees at a national park in Kanchanaburi province, western Thailand, on October 30.
The young elephants had been peacefully munching on plants when they began teasing each other. One gently tapped the other on the head with its trunk, and its companion quickly responded by playfully hitting back.
The duo were part of a herd of 50 elephants that had been foraging in the park. The adorable interaction was captured by a local wildlife enthusiast, Prathom, who shared his delight in witnessing the elephants’ carefree behavior.
“The baby elephants are so friendly and cute,” Prathom said. “It makes me so happy to see them enjoying life in their natural environment.”
Thailand is home to around 2,000 wild elephants, with a similar number living in captivity. Many of these elephants reside in sanctuaries, zoos, and elephant parks, while others are kept by private owners for use in weddings and religious ceremonies.
