A baby elephant’s playful encounter turned into a comical scene when it slipped around in a mud puddle while attempting to charge at a passing warthog.

Ewan Wilson captured The moment on film at Addo Elephant Park in South Africa’s Eastern Cape.

The footage shows the calf enjoying a splash in the mud alongside its family when it noticed a warthog scurrying by the pool’s edge.

In a bold move, the young elephant decided to confront the warthog, planting its feet in the wet mud as it prepared to charge.

However, the warthog paused briefly, causing the calf to take cover behind a larger elephant before lunging forward again. The calf lost its footing this time, slipping awkwardly on the muddy surface.

From behind the camera, a man can be heard chuckling, saying, “That’s very brave. He tried to charge and then slipped in the mud.”

Despite the warthog running off after spotting the approaching elephant, the determined calf made another attempt to chase it.

However, a second slip in the mud ended the pursuit, and the baby elephant decided to retreat, scampering back up the path to rejoin its family.

A woman watching the scene said, “Run back to mum, quickly!” Moments later, a larger elephant stepped protectively between the calf and the area where the warthog had been, closing out the lighthearted scene.
