Most cheetah cubs exhibit apprehension towards photographers and their equipment. Still, three cheeky siblings who spent their lives around wildlife filmmaker Gordon Buchanan were in the mood for some mischief.
A few months back, Buchanan embarked on an intimate journey to chronicle the lives of these majestic creatures.
He hoped that documenting their daily escapades would shine a light on the destiny of these animals.
This endeavor required him to engage more directly than envisioned on certain days. Buchanan recalled a particular incident: “After a long afternoon of feasting and napping, Seba and Morwa became playful as dusk set in.”
He was observing the cheetahs from a safe distance when he spotted Morwa making a beeline for his backpack. Stunned, Buchanan quipped, “It carries nothing more than the scent of a sweaty Scotsman.”
But as Buchanan soon realized, “Apparently, to Morwa, a sweaty Scotsman’s aroma is akin to catnip.” The curious cub seized Buchanan’s jacket from the backpack and dragged it away when it didn’t resist.
Buchanan approached with caution, knowing the playful cubs were nonetheless wild creatures. He coaxed Morwa to drop his jacket, and then Seba decided to partake in the playful chaos.
Buchanan had nothing to fear, though. The mischievous trio appeared more bent on teasing their human companion than causing him any harm.
Experience the joy of watching these three cheetah cubs pull harmless pranks on our good-natured filmmaker.
