Joe Gregory shared his captivating story with LatestSightings.com: “The reserve is incredibly remote and only reachable by boat, which adds to its exclusivity. Witnessing this pristine landscape is a privilege few experience.”
After arriving, Joe and his group enjoyed a waterside lunch before setting out on an afternoon game drive.

Navigating through the marshy wetlands, they encountered a herd of elephants and a group of rhinos, setting the stage for an unforgettable showdown. “A young elephant bull in musth was keen to assert dominance over a male white rhino,” Joe recalled.
The standoff ended without a clear victor, but not without excitement. Joe described the memorable moment: “The balancing act and the elephant ‘throwing’ a branch at the rhino added a cheeky twist to the encounter. Both animals showed mutual respect, making them both winners in my eyes. This was an incredibly rare sighting, and being so close to two of the Big Five was truly special. I shared it with Latest Sightings to highlight how unique and fleeting such moments are. If you’re lucky enough to witness something like this, cherish it. Feel the energy and connect deeply with our amazing South African nature.”
This awe-inspiring encounter highlights the untamed beauty and ancient rivalries in the wild, showcasing the power and charisma of both elephants and rhinos.

Moments like these emphasize the importance of preserving these majestic creatures and their habitats for future generations.
