A distress call brought attention to a dire situation: a young dog found in terrible condition. Severely malnourished and critically ill, the pup’s chance of survival looks slim, but a group of compassionate people is determined to save her.

At just seven months old, the dog’s health was rapidly declining. Medical tests showed alarming results: a dangerously high glucose level of 650, nearly 60,000 white blood cells, and elevated liver enzymes.

Her fragile state was compounded by severe dehydration, breathing difficulties, and a body temperature too low for comfort. To make matters worse, she suffered from diarrhea riddled with parasites, ticks, and other infections.

Veterinarians quickly initiated treatment, putting her on IV fluids complemented by antibiotics and pain relief. They also conducted an ultrasound and tested for various diseases like distemper and ehrlichia, revealing a positive result for the latter.

A hot water bottle was placed alongside her to combat the chill in her bones.

Updates on her progress provided a mix of hope and relief. By the second day, a slight optimism emerged as the pup, affectionately named Florcita, began to take in some liquid nourishment.
