In Henry County, a strict policy prevents the local animal care and control facility from adopting out dogs identified as pit bulls.
As a result, when three pit bull puppies were sent to a Georgia shelter and marked for euthanasia, their chances seemed bleak. According to their rules, pit bulls have only a three-day stay before being put to sleep.

Fortunately, the team from Friends to the Forlorn Pit Bull Rescue inquired if they could save these puppies. Jason Flatt, the founder of the rescue, immediately stepped forward to offer them a second chance at life.
The puppies, named Krissy, Nugget, and Sunshine, were quickly placed into foster homes. However, one question lingered about Sunshine—why did she have only one front paw?
The reason was unclear, whether due to a birth defect or past abuse, but Sunshine was determined to walk despite her missing limb.
To assist her, the rescue took Sunshine to a veterinarian to be fitted with a prosthetic paw. While they waited for the custom prosthetic to be ready, a flexible leg splint was used temporarily.
Sunshine adapted remarkably well to the splint. As she grows, she will receive prosthetics in various sizes to match her development.
Though the mystery of what happened to Sunshine’s paw may never be solved, her future is bright. She’s thriving in her new life, full of joy and spirit.
Thanks to the dedication and generosity of everyone involved, Sunshine and her siblings have found hope and happiness.
