Josephine, affectionately known as Pheenie, faced a tough life after her owner was deported, leaving her to fend for herself. She found refuge in a shipping container at a junkyard, shielding her from the harsh weather.
For nine long years, she survived on scraps and leftovers from kind-hearted locals.
With age, Pheenie’s health took a severe downturn. She endured a host of medical issues, including a lost right eye after an accident, a spinal cord infection, worsening dental problems, a urinary tract infection, and painful breast tumors.

A glimmer of hope arrived when volunteers from Hope For Paws stepped in to rescue Pheenie from her solitary existence.
Although the journey to gain her trust was challenging, Pheenie eventually recognized that she was being saved. Despite the sadness in her eyes, there was relief in her demeanor as she welcomed her rescuers.
To address her growing medical concerns, Pheenie was welcomed into a long-term foster care program. For five blissful months, she enjoyed her days on her foster family’s spacious farm, where she was showered with love and care.

In her final days, she experienced an abundance of affection, a stark contrast to her prior life of hardship and solitude. Rest in peace, dear Pheenie.
Pheenie’s journey from the junkyard to her peaceful days in foster care can be seen in the moving video below.
