Rescued Kitten Finds Comfort Indoors and Refuses to Be Alone, Winning Hearts with Her Sweet Nature

About a month ago, Andrea Christian, an animal rescuer, received an urgent call from a police officer who had found a tiny kitten along the side of a busy highway.

“The officer was driving north on I-75 when she spotted the kitten, looking stunned and frightened on the shoulder,” Andrea explained. After seeing pictures of the kitten’s fluffy appearance and minor injuries, Andrea stepped in to help.

The kitten, with her wide, pleading eyes, seemed desperate for affection. She had wounds on her chin, chest, and paws, along with patches of missing fur due to ringworm.

Andrea began treating her right away and noticed how calm the kitten was during care, almost as if she knew she was in safe hands.

It quickly became clear that this little cat didn’t enjoy being alone. Each time Andrea entered the room, the kitten eagerly tried to jump out of her pen for a chance at a cuddle, making it clear she wasn’t willing to take “no” for an answer.

“This little girl always has somewhere to go, which is probably how she ended up by the interstate,” Andrea said with a smile.

Andrea set up a spacious playpen filled with toys to keep her entertained, but the kitten wanted only pets and snuggles. Despite her ordeal, she was in high spirits and just craved companionship.

The kitten perked up each time Andrea spoke, following her voice until she was picked up and held. Andrea knew this affectionate kitten needed a constant companion and soon found her an ideal foster home.

Nadija, a foster volunteer already caring for two kittens with ringworm, was eager to welcome her. As soon as the fluffy newcomer arrived, she hopped up on a cat tree and surveyed her new surroundings confidently, her bright eyes fixed on Nadija with fascination.

“This little girl is unstoppable—she has a big personality and even more love to give,” Nadija shared.

The kitten then underwent surgery to repair her chin, and a small protective button was placed on her lip, earning her the name “Buttons.” “The orange button keeps her sutures in place, and it suits her—she is as cute as a button,” Nadija added.

Before long, Buttons was darting around her room, climbing anything in sight.

Buttons soon met her foster siblings, who were also being treated for ringworm. The other kittens took her under their wing, and Buttons was thrilled to have friends to play with.

A gentle brown-and-white tabby seemed especially attentive, sensing her need for extra care.

After a few weeks, Buttons’ recovery was complete. Her wounds had healed, her fur was growing back, and the button had been removed. She had blossomed into a vibrant little kitten full of love and playfulness.

“She’s the sweetest little girl—so playful, chatty, and snuggly,” Nadija said with pride.
