An animal rescuer in California recently stumbled upon a heart-wrenching animal cruelty case while driving on a remote road.
A volunteer from R.A.D. Rescue noticed a dog with an unusually chubby face. She pulled over to check on him and soon realized that the cause of the dog’s swollen head was a tightly wrapped chain around his neck.
The volunteer immediately took action to save the dog. She lured him into her car with chicken and drove to a nearby veterinarian for urgent care.
Despite the pain he must have been in, the dog, later named Chunk the Hunk, seemed to enjoy the car ride and was calm throughout the journey.
At the veterinary clinic, the vet confirmed that Chunk’s swollen face was treatable. With proper care and medical treatment, the dog began to recover. Knowing that Chunk would be okay and could soon find a new home was a relief for the rescuer.
As Chunk’s condition improved, the rescuer helped him adapt to a life of freedom and fun after what seemed like a lifetime of being chained up.
Chunk’s personality began to shine as he explored new activities and interacted with people in a way he likely never had before.
R.A.D.The rescuee team worked tirelessly to find Chunk a forever home, and after just a few months, they succeeded. Chunk’s new family welcomed him with open arms, and he has been living his best life ever since.
Thanks to the compassion and quick action of the rescuer, Chunk was given a second chance at a happy life, free from the cruelty he once endured.
