Rescuers Save Injured Cat and His Devoted Sister, Who Never Leaves His Side

When Gianna Cirucci, cofounder of Foster the Furbabies, received a rescue request for a special needs cat, she knew she had to help.

The cat, Arthur, was missing a foot on one of his back legs, and the shelter lacked the resources to provide the specialized care he needed. “We’ve helped many special needs kitties before, so I felt compelled to help him,” Gianna told Love Meow.

Gianna contacted the shelter and agreed to take Arthur. However, she soon discovered he had a loyal companion—a sister named Muffy.

The shelter asked if she could take Muffy as well, and Gianna couldn’t refuse, especially after seeing a video of the two cats grooming each other affectionately.

Arthur and Muffy arrived at their foster home with more health problems than expected. Arthur needed surgery on his injured hind leg, but both cats were battling pneumonia.

Arthur was put in a cast to stabilize his leg until he was healthy enough for surgery, and another injury on his front leg began to heal on its own.

Despite everything he had been through, Arthur remained cheerful and resilient, always finding the energy to keep going.

Muffy never left his side through it all, offering constant love and support. She snuggled and groomed Arthur like a devoted guardian, and her presence helped him through many tough moments.

“Muffy was initially shy, but Arthur gave her confidence and showed her that humans weren’t so scary,” Gianna said. “He was trusting of me from the moment I got him.”

Even with his leg in a cast, Arthur’s adventurous spirit never waned, and Muffy was always there to comfort him.

“Muffy is an incredible support for Arthur, and I can’t imagine how heartbroken he’d be without her,” Gianna added. The pair spend their days cuddling, and their bond is evident as they intertwine their legs while resting.

“I’ve fostered hundreds of cats, but I’ve never seen two so closely bonded,” Gianna remarked. “They love being petted and especially enjoy belly rubs.”

Whenever Gianna enters the room, Arthur circles her legs, demanding attention, while Muffy rubs her face against her foster mom.

Thanks to dedicated care, nutritious food, and each other’s companionship, Arthur and Muffy are gradually healing.

They no longer have to worry about their future, knowing they are surrounded by love. Gianna is continually amazed by the strength of their connection, describing them as kindred spirits who seem to understand each other’s needs without words.
