The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the renowned Black Widow actress is in discussions to take the lead in the next installment of the popular franchise.
This upcoming movie will be written by David Koepp, who previously penned the scripts for the original ‘Jurassic Park’ in 1993 and its sequel ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park’ in 1997, based on Michael Crichton’s novels.
Universal Pictures is moving quickly towards producing the new ‘Jurassic World,’ with a planned release date of July 2, 2025.
After David Leitch’s brief association with the project, Gareth Park has been confirmed as the director.
If Johansson secures the lead role, it will mark her return to a significant franchise role, following her iconic portrayal of Black Widow in Marvel Studios’ movies.
In addition to this potential role, Johansson is busy with other projects. She is voicing a character in the upcoming animated series ‘Transformers One’ and is co-starring with Channing Tatum in an Apple production set to release in 2024.
The new ‘Jurassic World film will be the sixth movie in the franchise, which began with Steven Spielberg’s groundbreaking 1993 film ‘Jurassic Park.’
The original trilogy included ‘The Lost World’ (1997) and ‘Jurassic Park III’ (2001). The series was revitalized with ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ (2018) and ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ (2022).
