Fans of Scarlett Johansson have something exciting to look forward to in her directorial debut with the film Eleanor the Great, produced by Sony TriStar.
The movie tells the story of Eleanor Morgenstern, a 90-year-old woman who, after losing her best friend, decides to leave her retirement in Florida and return to New York City to start a new.
Originally titled Eleanor, Invisible, the film has no official release date yet. The screenplay was written by Tory Kamen, known for her work on the TV series The Mick.
Johansson produces the film through These Pictures, Pinky Promise, and Maven Screen Media.
The cast features June Squibb and Jessica Hecht. Squibb, a 94-year-old Oscar nominee, has starred in Nebraska, Palm Springs, Life & Beth, and Thelma. Her role in Nebraska earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Hecht is known for her performances in Breaking Bad and The Boys. Both actresses have shared the Broadway stage with Johansson in A View from the Bridge, where all three received Tony nominations.
In addition to Squibb and Hecht, the cast includes several actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), such as Chiwetel Ejiofor from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Erin Kellyman from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
