Scarlett Johansson recently revealed that her co-star Joaquin Phoenix became so uncomfortable during the recording of a particularly intense scene that he had to leave the studio.
The incident took place during the filming of the 2014 movie “Her,” where Johansson played the role of artificial intelligence Samantha, while Phoenix portrayed Theodore, a lonely writer who falls in love with his operating system.
In an interview on Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast, Johansson shared the experience of recording the scene, which involved her making fake orgasm noises.
Phoenix, who had already filmed his part of the scene on set, was visibly disturbed, leaving the studio in the middle of the recording.
Johansson recalled the bizarre situation, saying she was fine during the take, but Phoenix was not. After taking a break, Phoenix returned to the studio to complete the scene.
Johansson also expressed her own embarrassment about recording the noises, stating that nobody wants to hear their voice during such moments.
Despite the discomfort, Johansson has shared her secret to filming realistic, intimate scenes in the past: being complete without judgment and staying in the moment.
The Hollywood star has also been candid about her struggles with accepting her sex symbol status and embracing her own body.
