Scarlett Johansson’s fashion choices in the 2013 film “Don Jon” left an indelible mark on audiences, with her character, Barbara, sporting Juicy Couture tracksuits, body-hugging dresses, and a memorable leopard-print mini.

Surprisingly, the inspiration behind Barbara’s wardrobe comes from an unexpected source: one of the cast members of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”

In a recent interview with Vogue’s “Life in Looks” segment, the 37-year-old actress shared, “I based this character off of one of the Housewives of New Jersey.

I won’t tell you which one… I just was like, ‘I know this person. I know what watch they wear. I know how their hair and nails are styled. I just was like, ‘Sign me up.'”

While Johansson embraced the Jersey-inspired attire, she confessed to struggling with the acrylic nails required for the role. “It was torturous. I couldn’t do anything.

They were painful. It was a whole world I’d never been privy to… It was madness. I don’t know how people do it, but I have a lot of respect for those people,” she revealed.

Reflecting on her costume experience, Johansson also discussed her iconic Black Widow uniform, acknowledging its discomfort and evolution over time.

“Some of the Black Widow costumes are uncomfortable and impractical… Playing Natasha Romanoff has been one of the greatest treasured experiences of my entire career. I love the character. I love my Marvel family. It’s been a joy. Every step of the way has been an absolute joy.”

In a previous interview with Fatherly, Johansson revealed an interesting tidbit about her Marvel character’s attire.

While her look in “Iron Man 2” embraced a “femme fatale” aesthetic, there were discussions about a drastic change for “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

Initially proposed as a “shape-shifter” character arriving in tennis whites and a blonde wig, this concept was quickly scrapped, leading to the practical and iconic Black Widow appearance fans know today.
