A recent viral video captures an elephant chasing a jungle safari vehicle after tourists screamed in panic.
The video, shared on Twitter by Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer Susanta Nanda, depicts an elephant charging towards a tourist vehicle as women onboard scream, prompting the elephant to accelerate. In the video, one person urges the driver to move forward as the elephant approaches.
Once the vehicle advances, the elephant slowly slows, calmly retreating into the jungle. Meanwhile, one woman records the gentle giant’s departure.
Expressing frustration, the IFS officer criticized the tourists for their panicked behavior, questioning why they ventured into the forest if they were so afraid. He emphasized the need for respectful and composed conduct during jungle safaris.
Commenters also criticized the tourists’ reactions. Responding to a question about whether the yelling prompted the elephant’s charge, the officer confirmed that the noise had indeed irritated the animal.
One commenter deemed Education about safari etiquette crucial, while another emphasized that disturbing the wild leads to undesirable outcomes.
This incident echoes a previous video in which a provoked tiger charged towards tourists in Uttarakhand’s Jim Corbett National Park.
The gypsy driver responsible for provoking the tiger faced legal consequences under the Wildlife Protection Act.
