When compassionate individuals heard about a dog with an oddly large belly wandering around town, they decided to look into the situation.
Despite his circumstances, the dog was friendly and quickly made friends with other dogs in the area. Locals, mistaking him for a pregnant female, often fed him without knowing much about his history. Known only to be ownerless, the dog spent his days roaming the town, holding onto a secret soon to be discovered.

In their quest to uncover the dog’s story, the caring group met a woman who regularly fed the dog. Through her, they learned that the dog, named Bangwool, first encountered her and her husband two years earlier, quickly befriending their own dog, Ming-gu. At that time, Bangwool was healthy, and his belly was normal.
Even with the woman’s kindness and meals, Bangwool seemed distant, leaving promptly after each meal for unknown destinations. Unlike with Ming-gu’s family, Bangwool didn’t let his guard down with others. Curious about his secretive behavior, locals decided to follow him.
Bangwool led them with purpose to an abandoned house. It turned out, this was where he once lived with his owner who had passed away. It became clear that Bangwool was heartbroken, visiting his former home each day hoping for the impossible return of his beloved owner.

With this heart-wrenching tale in mind, the empathetic investigators contacted rescuers for help in capturing Bangwool, with their sympathetic informant on board to assist. She played a crucial role in guiding Bangwool into a rescue crate.
Although confused at first by the sudden change, Bangwool was quickly on his way to receiving much-needed assistance. Locals felt a mix of sadness and relief as they witnessed the dog’s rescue, wishing him the best in his new chapter.
Bangwool bid a fond farewell to his caregiver and was brought to a veterinary clinic for a thorough examination. The vet identified that Bangwool didn’t have a tumor, but was suffering from inherited heart disease and heartworm. This condition caused blood to pool in his abdomen, leading to the swollen appearance.

The veterinary team removed the excess fluid, bringing immediate relief and joy to Bangwool. He was prescribed heart medication to manage his condition and stayed at the clinic for a week-long recovery.
Once Bangwool was ready to leave, his caregivers were astonished by his transformation. Bangwool appeared healthier and visibly happier, his face beaming with a newfound joy.
Feeling a strong connection to Bangwool, the couple who had looked after him decided to officially adopt him. As they embraced their new family member, his eyes glistened with happiness, reflecting a promising future. Bangwool was now ready to embark on a fresh start with his forever family by his side.
