When McStuffins arrived at Border Tails Rescue in Northbrook, Illinois, after being transferred from Chicago Animal Care and Control, her charming personality and striking heterochromia immediately endeared her to the shelter staff, who believed she would soon find a loving home.
Their expectations seemed to come true when McStuffins was adopted not long after her arrival. It appeared that she had finally found a caring family.
However, McStuffins’ journey took an unexpected turn when she was returned to the shelter a few months later.

Content creators Eric Noxon and Joey Masloski, who run a TikTok page to highlight shelter dogs in need of homes, were heartbroken by the news.
“It breaks my heart, because she’s so sweet. She just has a bundle of energy, and I think that’s the only thing kind of holding her back,” Noxon shared in one of their TikTok videos.
Noxon and Masloski dedicated their time to visiting McStuffins, taking her on runs and for playdates, and their bond with her grew stronger each day.
Their hopes soared when they learned McStuffins was adopted again, thinking she may have found her happy ending.

But sadly, after only a day with her new family, McStuffins was returned to the shelter. A volunteer at Border Tails Rescue pointed out that McStuffins might not have been disappointed, as she probably thought her brief stay was more like a short visit.
The shelter staff was optimistic when another family expressed a desire to adopt McStuffins, and the dog seemed eager and ready to start a new chapter.
Heartbreakingly, the family never arrived to complete the adoption, leaving McStuffins still waiting for a home.

The prolonged time in her kennel began to affect McStuffins’ behavior. Though she had an abundance of love to give, the isolation made it challenging for her to stay at her best.
“It shows you what happens when they sit in the shelter. McStuffins is getting worse and worse,” shared a volunteer in another TikTok video. Despite these setbacks, Noxon and Masloski remained committed to McStuffins.
They expressed gratitude to her previous adopters, acknowledging their efforts gave them insights into what she needed—a home as the sole pet with a family leading an active lifestyle.

“Thank you to McStuffins’ previous adopter for giving her a shot. Without you, we wouldn’t be able to learn as much as we did,” Noxon said on TikTok.
McStuffins continues to wait for a family that recognizes her wonderful qualities and loves her for who she is. Noxon and Masloski remain optimistic and determined to see her find her forever home, committed to supporting her until that day comes.
