In a heartwarming video that has captured the internet’s attention, a koala joey named Norris was reunited with his mother, Doris, after falling from a tree in the Adelaide Hills.
Norris, described as being the size of a tennis ball, lost his grip and tumbled 20 meters from the tree, fortunately landing in a soft hedge below.
On Tuesday, Koala Rescue was called to the scene to help the young joey. The footage, shared by Koala Rescue on Facebook, shows a wildlife rescuer attempting to reunite the mother and son. As the rescuer holds Norris up to the tree trunk, Doris quickly climbs down from a high branch to meet them.

In the touching video, the wildlife rescuer and Doris exchange grunts as Norris is placed onto his mother’s back. The marsupial pair climbs back up the tree, pausing to look down at the rescuer before continuing their ascent.
The heartwarming video quickly went viral, with social media users praising the wildlife rescuer for reuniting the mother and son. Comments on the post included expressions of love and gratitude for the beautiful work done by the Koala Rescue team.
In a statement, Koala Rescue described the reunion as unlike any they had witnessed before. With years of experience and many successful reunions, the volunteer at the scene decided to try something unique.
Holding Norris up so Doris could see him, the rescuer managed to call the mother down from the tree. The happy pair climbed back up, with Norris riding on Doris’s head as they made their way to safety.
