California-based bird photographer Phoo Chan, known for his work featured in National Geographic, has captured impressive images depicting a crow landing on and riding a bald eagle mid-flight.
Chan explains that crows are notorious for aggressive behavior towards larger raptors in their territory. Typically, the intruding raptors retreat without any issues.
However, in this rare instance, the crow didn’t harass the bald eagle even when nearby, and the eagle didn’t seem bothered by the invasion of its personal space.
The crow’s brief pause on the eagle’s back made the scene even more astonishing, as if enjoying a free scenic ride while the eagle graciously allowed it.
Although these photos are unusual, this isn’t the first time a photographer has witnessed such an extraordinary event. Another example includes a baby weasel that took a ride on a woodpecker.
