A heartwarming video captured the endearing moment when a baby alpaca, also known as a cria, sprinted toward its mother and embraced her with a hug. This touching scene took place at The Alpaca Boutique in Medina, Ohio.
In the video, the cria’s mother, a large brown alpaca, approaches a little girl who is giggling nervously. Sierra Santiago, the girl’s mother, filmed the interaction.
The duo had been feeding the alpacas when the mother alpaca approached, lowering her head towards the child.

As the girl cautiously backed away from the approaching alpaca, the cria suddenly entered the frame from the left, excitedly running to its mother. Onlookers exclaimed, “He’s coming,” as the baby alpaca dashed towards its parent.
Reaching its mother, the cria stood on its hind legs and appeared to give her a loving embrace. Observers cooed at the tender moment shared by the mother and baby before the cria returned to a standing position.
The video, which was posted on TikTok earlier this month, has since gone viral. Some viewers speculated that the cria was being protective of its mother after noticing her interaction with Sierra’s daughter.
The heartwarming video has captured the hearts of many, with comments like, “She’s MY mommy, not yours!” and “Aww… I didn’t know they hugged! Adorable.”
Reflecting on the special moment, Sierra shared, “My daughter and me at the alpaca farm boutique in Medina, Ohio, at the beginning of October. We were just feeding the animals, and the baby came running toward its mother. The end result was us saying awww… at the end.”
