Some animals seem artistic, but we never expected them to be rats!
Toogood’s Tiny Paws shows us how clever and empathetic these creatures can be when given some paint and a canvas.
Steph Toogood, the mouse’s owner, said: “The idea of painting on canvases came to me after I lost one of my sons, Captain Jack Sparrow (Gibbs’ brother) last year”.
Unfortunately, he underwent an operation but did not regain consciousness from the anesthetic. Since Steph worked at the vet, she managed to get some paw prints from the rats after Jack passed away.
“I thought it would be lovely for my sons to do something similar when they were by my side to keep them when they were gone, so I had some mini canvases and paints, and they’ve created mementos for me to keep.”
Since Steph loves photography, she uploaded several photos of her pets alongside their little artwork. This has attracted a lot of attention from people who wanted to have their own little creature artwork.
Toogood’s Tiny Paws Art was born on April 20, 2019.
There are 12 rats in this group, and before the artists, they are Steph’s friends!
“They are my best friends, and they won’t spend their whole lives in paint, no matter how high their artistic need is right now,” she posted on her Facebook page recently. ”
“Some boys get target training and will follow a target stick or by hand to make painting easier – we even have a miniature agility course that some of them are very good at !”
“I don’t want to use this site just for their art – I want to promote the keeping of rats as pets and their welfare, as well as to share what the boys get up to outside of painting.”
