Taken on March 22 by local cameraman Channarong Tom Srisa-ard, 28, the area is an elephant conservation area that supports the ethical treatment of the species.

It comes weeks after a clip emerged from the same area where a ‘nanny’ elephant demonstrated to a careful baby how to roll and play in the mud.

In the footage, the adult elephant dove into the mud – covering himself from head to toe – while the baby elephant watched and learned.

Filmed at the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand by Save the Asian Elephants volunteer Steph Snowdon, the video showed the calf walking towards the mud patch, ready to give the wallowing himself.

The calf followed the adult elephant’s lead and fell straight onto the soft ground.

The CEO of Save the Elephants Asia (STAE), Duncan McNair, a leading lawyer and animal rights campaigner, posted the sweet video on Facebook.
