An infected elephant tried to give a young pretender a good hit – by throwing him off balance with his trunk.
A younger male challenged the older bull to gain dominance in the Amboseli National Park in Kenya.
But despite the lack of ivory in previous battles, the veteran used his experience to win the swamp battlefield.
The encounter was photographed Nomadic by Nature by a 35-year-old photographer and owner of the travel website Mike McCaffrey.
Now living in Kenya, Americans have made a 20,000 km trip through East and South Africa to visit national parks.
“Amboseli National Park is one of the most famous parks in Kenya,” he said. It is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, providing a beautiful backdrop for hunting trips.
“The water from Kilimanjaro supplies the park’s marshes and lakes, which attract large swarms of elephants and buffalo and make it feel like the land of giants.
“I ran into these two giant bulls at the edge of one of the swamps engaged in a battle for domination.
“After a long and devastating battle, the triumphant experience of your youth.
“The older elephant was able to use one of his fine tusks to insert it perpendicularly below the other elephant’s tusks like a forklift.
“Then he raised his tusks and twisted, throwing the other elephant off balance.
“He had to admit several crimes directly from the baby elephant during the fight but ultimately won when the baby elephant retreated to the swamp.
“Interesting experience is like being humble.
“The animals are so big that everything seems to move slowly, but when they crash, the cracking sound as they collide and dust rising around them makes you understand their speed and strength.”
