Moya, a remarkable white lion with a magnificent mane, has enchanted many with his unique and regal appearance.

Living at the Glen Garriff Conservation lion sanctuary in South Africa, this six-year-old lion symbolizes beauty and conservation efforts.

When British wildlife photographer Simon Needham first encountered Moya, he was mesmerized by the lion’s extraordinary looks. “I love animals, but Moya’s stunning coat blew me away,” Needham said.

Although approaching Moya posed a challenge, Needham successfully captured intimate moments of the lion as he roamed his territory, resulting in breathtaking photographs.

White lions like Moya are exceptionally rare, with their distinctive coats caused by a genetic mutation called leucism, which is similar to albinism but less severe.

Needham hopes that his photographs will highlight the sanctuary and raise awareness about the threats facing lions in their natural habitats.

He believes Moya’s story goes beyond mere admiration; it underscores the urgent need for conservation.

“The story is one of conservation awareness,” he pointed out, stressing the critical issues that endanger iconic wildlife globally.

As both a director and professional photographer, Needham supports conservation initiatives by donating 50% of the proceeds from his artwork.

“I’m delighted that we can raise awareness and support GG Conservation through this endeavor,” he added, emphasizing the importance of blending art with activism to protect endangered species.
