Weighing just 11 pounds and measuring between 11 and 16 inches, the one female and three male cubs delighted onlookers as they explored their enclosure under their mother’s watchful eye.

White Bengal tigers are distinguished by a rare genetic anomaly, making these cubs part of a tiny global population of around 250 individuals.

The cubs, still nursing, are beginning to show interest in the meat their mother prefers, an essential milestone in their growth. Their father, Rocky, recently saw his cubs for the first time from his neighboring cage.

Zookeeper Hiroki Itakura noted Rocky’s initial confusion, saying, “He only remembers Karla being there, so at first, he looked like he was thinking, ‘What are these? Something new is here.’”

While the cubs are hugely popular, white tigers have been controversial in conservation circles due to inbreeding concerns.

Conservationists argue that efforts should focus on less inbred tiger varieties that face similar extinction threats.

Despite the controversy, the striking appearance of white tigers continues to draw visitors. Tobu Zoo has seen hundreds of eager guests come to witness the playful cubs and their attentive mothers.
