In a touching display of misunderstanding, Kinji innocently interpreted the aggressive behavior of a pack of meerkats, separated by a wire fence, as affectionate grooming sessions.

Captured on film by Dolph C. Volk, the caretaker of these animals, the footage showcases the endearing bond between these unlikely friends.

According to Volk, Kinji exhibits an amiable demeanor and harbors genuine affection for the meerkats.

However, the sentiment is not reciprocated by the territorial meerkats, who view Kinji as a potential threat rather than a companion.

“Here he is at eight months and two years old, trying to get the meerkats to scratch him. He ends up purring to the delight of getting a grooming from these tiny creatures.

He has no idea they want to harm him! Meerkats are territorial and do not like predators.

Staff label Kinji a’ ‘The cheetah that doesn’t part; it is rare only heard him purr when eating sometimes, playing with a toy sometimes, and encountering his meerkat friends,” explained Volk.
