With only 500 tigers remaining in the wild, they are the third most endangered tiger species globally.

Witnesses were thrilled to witness the special moment as seven-year-old Naya and her offspring frolicked and played in the warm sunshine.

Donovan Glyn, the team leader at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, expressed his excitement, stating, “Seeing all four of these endangered tiger cubs out and about, playing in the grass together, is the perfect way for us to begin the summer here at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.”

The playful cubs were born 16 weeks after Naya arrived at the zoo to meet her male mate, Botzman.

Naya spent days carrying her cubs around to help them acclimate to their new environment.

According to Mr. Glyn, Naya has been an exceptional mother, patiently guiding each cub around the enclosure to familiarize them with their surroundings and boost their confidence.

These cubs are part of the European Endangered Species Breeding Programme (EEP), which aims to breed rare animals across various European zoos.

Amur tigers faced near extinction in the 1940s, with their global population plummeting to fewer than 50 individuals.

However, concerted conservation efforts have significantly increased their numbers, now surpassing ten times the population from 70 years ago.
